Tidbits: Fredericks Musically Most Wanted – Old Indian

We’ll that’s exactly it, YOU MUST SEE them live. To date, the trio that consolidated as Old Indian in 2010 has almost zero recordings or videos in circulation on the world wide web. They’ve taken kind of an opposite approach to building their reputation than most; by not distributing demo CD-R’s and keeping a tight lease on the number of band performances each month. All this has lead to quite a frenzy amongst local music followers who can’t get enough of Old Indians hard driving heavy blues rock that’s entirely fresh but oh so purely classic sounding. They let their live sound and only their live sound speak for their greatness, so we locals circle the venue flyers like birds of prey looking for that one, or maybe two Old Indian shows a month. The good news is that they don’t discriminate amongst venues, I’ve seen them at Café Nola, Bentz Street, and The Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET). The other epically good news is that I’ve heard they are working on a full length album to be released in the near future!!
Speaking of the MET, they just had their second annual Yoni Gras Festival which was a blast. Where else can you see your favorite Frederick bands in an informal setting with the luxury of theatre quality? Yoni Gras is a superb convergence of Frederick’s most talented musicians and featured none other than Old Indian on Friday night. Yours truly was there and I was certainly on a mission to get some Old Indian on film, you could say it’s been on the bucket list. I fell a bit short of my goal, the request to basically turn the lights off killed my chances at any footage, but I decided to keep rolling film that night and get what audio I could. I nearly recorded the entire set from start to finish, so check out Old Indian live at Yoni Gras right here on the Bucket Of Rock YouTube channel. I also, videotaped Holy Mtn and Silent Old Mtns at Yoni Gras, check those videos out right here .
