Communication Breakdown: Local Music Event To Support Question 6

Originally Posted October 3rd, 2012

This year is a critical voting year to uphold Maryland’s civil marriage laws allowing gay and lesbian couples to obtain a civil marriage license.  Question 6 which will appear on this year’s November voting ballot will be the deciding factor.  Many LGBT advocates are raising funds for public awareness of this critical voting issue right now, even Melissa Etheridge is jumping into the action !  If you want to know more about why LGBT advocates need to raise money to support the cause, check out this article on The Daily Beast .  In Frederick, five local bands and Bentz Street Bar are organizing their own fund raising event this Saturday, called the Maryland Equality Festival .  The event kicks off at 1pm and includes a great local lineup of The Ten Thousand, The Galt Line , Adrienne & The Merrylanders , Holy MTN , and Silent Old Mtns closing the evening festivities.  Tickets are $5 and there will be many other opportunities to contribute and donate to equal marriage rights at the event.  No matter how much or how little you want to contribute to equal marriage rights, join us for a killer line up of our favorite local bands.  And if you simply can’t make it to the event, you might consider taking a moment to sign this Question 6 petition .
